This is a British silver shilling dating from 1887, during the reign of Queen Victoria. The coin features the Jubilee Head portrait of Victoria, a design used during the later years of her reign. The obverse displays the Queen’s portrait, encircled by the Latin inscription “VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIARUM REGINA”, while the reverse depicts a crowned lion and the denomination.
Condition and Collectibility
The shilling appears to be in very good condition, displaying clear details on both sides. Silver coins from this period are popular with collectors of British numismatics, and this example would be a welcome addition to a collection. The 1887 date marks a significant year in Victorian history, adding to the coin’s appeal for those interested in historical artefacts.
