Antique Brass Scale

This is an antique brass scale, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The scale features a substantial brass base with turned legs and castors, and an inlaid mother of pearl decoration. It is designed for weighing and features a delicate balance arm and pans, suggesting use for precise measurements in a kitchen, apothecary, or similar setting.

Condition & Collectibility

The scale exhibits signs of age and use, with some patina and wear to the brass. The mother of pearl inlay shows some minor loss, consistent with its age. Despite this, the scale remains a visually appealing and potentially functional piece, desirable for collectors of antique scientific instruments, kitchenalia, or decorative brass items.
